Damascus Alder Mike Pisio Knife

Been a long time, but finding quality pictures of knives is harder than you’d expect! When I saw this Spalted Alder / Damascus knife by Mike Pisio from Canada, I just knew I had to feature it.

Just look at that stunning blue tinted pattern on the steel, and check out the stabilised crosscut alder handle – beautiful. Everything about this knife oozes quality. It’s well worth a closer look.

The knife is 8.25″ overall length, blade length is 3.75″.

New Knife Auction Website

No wallpaper today, but I come bearing news of a brand new auction site that I guarantee is worth a visit.

EDC Source is a great little site put together by Defender of SOSAK fame. The site aims to be “a place where you could buy, sell and trade all manner of Every Day Carry goods” and there’s a small-but-growing community of users building up.

Check it out today and see if there’s a bargain waiting for you!

This site will, I hope, prove especially useful to UK users, now that ebay doesn’t allow us to purchase knives. Woop woop!

Spyderco Jerry Hossom Dayhiker Picture

Spyderco are known throughout the knife world for their distinctive designs and high quality.

Jerry Hossom has been making knives full-time since 1997 and has a great range of combat/tactical designs, as well as some more experimental pieces that defy categorization .

This Hossom/Spyderco collaboration features a 4.75 inch blade, 0.16″ thick (that’s 4mm for the metric folks) and the OAL is 10.5 inches.

This is a great looking knife with N690Co steel and micarta scales.

Brostrom 90 Double Yellow Knife

mic201m from knifeforums shared this striking custom made knife in the Scandinavian Knife Gallery and it looks great. Apparently he got the idea while sitting in a traffic jam – take another look and have a chuckle at the name, and the double yellow lines. Who knew they could inspire such a thing of beauty?

The blade is a 90×23mm Stefan Brostrom, and the handle is grey/yellow stab Box Elder. The overall length is 215mm. The scandi grind is a well loved and traditional bushcraft design. You can find some more great pics of this “Noh Pah King” knife on knifeforums.

Sadly I didn’t have a very large image to start with, so the higher res wallpapers have been scaled up, but I don’t think they’ve come out too badly in the end

Bark River Bob Loveless Drop Point Hunter

Another from Randy’s impressive BRKT collection, a Bark River Drop Point Hunter which Randy tells us is based on a Bob Loveless design (including the two tone pins). The hand made grip has been modified with the addition of a palm swell. The blade is 3.5″ long, .155″ thick made of 154cm stainless which rockwells to 58 with BRK’s standard convex grind. The grip on this knife is bocota.

The small Mikro Canadian also seen pictured is a convex ground blade 1.75″ long, .150″ thick and made of A2 steel hardened to 59-60 rc. Again, grip material is bocota.

This great knife is a Bark River Pro Scalpel with a 2.875 inch blade of 52-100 steel, 0.135 thick at the spine. The overall length is around 5.5″. The handle material is blue & gold Elder Burl. “Barkies” have a lot of love on the forums, and looking at this knife you can’t fail to be impressed

Punisher: War Zone Movie Knife – TOPS M4X

(Ok ok, so I know I said there’d be no updates for a week or two but I just couldn’t resist when Tim Stetzer sent in this great photo – thanks!)

The knife was designed by Dan Certo of Relentless Knives and has been selected to be featured in the 2008 movie Punisher: War Zone. This knife, known as the “TOPS M4X”, has gray canvas micarta scales and a coated blade. It weighs in at a hefty 13½ inches OAL, with a 2-inch wide, ¼ inch thick blade that’s 8½ inches in length. A serious piece of kit!

Randall Made Knives have become somewhat legendary. Perhaps it’s the history behind the knives, or maybe it’s the incredible wait-time on new orders – according to their FAQ, if you want to buy one now, you’ll be waiting until 2014 before it’s delivered. But whatever it is, Randall is one of the most respected, and well-known, custom knife makers out there.
